(See #3 for how-to on the rods).

Make sure to measure from ceiling to floor to determine what length of curtains you need. Pooling on the floor a little is acceptable - too short is not. The rods should be simple, but remember they will be visible with tab top curtains, so they should look nice as well. The back rod should cover the width of the bed. The side rods can be 2 feet or less, as the curtains shouldn't go further than that for this look. It appears there are 4 curtain panels; however, the actual width of the curtain will determine how many you need to make it look full without gaps.

I would use Linen for the drapes because it drapes beautifully. You will pay more for linen, but I think the 'look' can be achieved with other sheer fabrics. Two duvets, two down comforters within - two layers of softness - awwwwww. Double layers of $$$ - hmmmm. You can still get a lovely and luxurious look with a white duvet over a gray matelasse coverlet if your budget won't allow two down comforters and duvets. I live in So. California, and would never ever need two down comforters - so it would be strictly for the look here. I would maybe use a down blanket instead of a down comforter for the duvet inserts. They are not as warm and not as thick. You can also get down alternatives for those who suffer from allergies. Try to adapt the bedding to your own climate, but use at least one comforter in a duvet for the soft inviting look this room calls for...

<pre style="background-color: white; BEAUTIFUL BEDROOM DIY - (PART 1)

How can I make my room look like this? I recently received this email: Hello. This beautiful bedroom with the silver bowl of coral in the f...

New (Old) Dining Room Table

Hello! Wow, it's been a while hasn't it? I'm still working on projects but just have been too busy to blog about them. This past month, hubby and I worked on a couple of dining room projects and I wanted to share them with you here.

First up, a longer, more rustic dining room table.

Since our home is over 100 years old with our dining room being one of the biggest rooms in the house, I've always envisioned a long, very worn looking farmhouse table to go in the room. Something that looked like it had been there all those years, with all kinds of history and stories behind it. I had tried to create that several times with two different dining tables that I had built but I was never completely happy deep down with them. But I am now. I love what my hubby and I created, using the beautiful white table legs that my dad turned himself before he passed away.

Here's a look.....

We used barn wood from a very old barn in the country. We cleaned and sanded it smooth. I wanted to leave the table and sides raw so that's just what I did. Our children are no longer little so I'm not worried about it getting stained or ruined. After we use it, I just wipe it down with a damp rag. Because the wood is very old and worn, imperfections will not bother me. For those wondering, this table is 8 feet long and 3 feet across.

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinVeKb9ZWlw_AOrLzylHUyAiSfIL-txgxddouRRpZXp70aKJARd9SfkPsFGxA8BVv34tKeDWAKf7Y-iRkRCJmpCldeHKCZp1G6_wh-dgYH5Q0XRhwpl5xtPj7r7JcigfovNevX7e52GybL/s1600/004a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em;
